LBAB Community: Update with Black Friday Results
We hit $5B in (+22% YoY) sales on Black Friday. An insane accomplishment to see how much growth the industry has undergone in the last 5 years.
They really outdid themselves this year with the animations and how cool the live shopping globe looks.
But it’s another incredibly accomplishment for all the brands in our ecosystem.
I hope everyone is having a killer Black Friday weekend and is revving up for a killer Cyber Monday. The sales will keep rolling in so keep pushing.
Kunle plotted the Black Friday grow over the last 6 years and it’s really impressive to say the least.
22% might not seem like a huge number, but that’s $900m in collective sales that we all did this weekend.
Have a killer Cyber Monday and keep pushing. Let’s finish the year out strong.

What I’m thankful for:
I’m grateful this has been 1 of the most exciting/challenging years of my life.
From quitting my job at Gorgias to jumping full time into looking to buy a biz, iit’s been incredible to see how it has all unfolded.
But the biz side is only 1 part of my life. I had a lot of major life achievements this year. The 5 things I’m grateful for.
Adopting our 1st dog. Pi Jio (Beer in mandarin).
Spending 2 weeks on our honeymoon this year.
Starting my own biz again.
Everyone’s support this year.
I’m making enough money that my wife was able to quit her job.
(She just got another one which we’re super excited about, but she took the time to study and get the cert to focus on the career she really wanted.)
Betting on myself has always been the craziest + most fun decision I’ve made throughout my career.
Every time it has been worth it. For everyone that is thinking about jumping into their own thing next year, take the time now while you are still at your job to start lining your ducks up.
I had been writing on linkedIn for 4 years before it was at a scale that it could support me full-time. It took 6 months from last Nov for me to really ramp up everything to the point where I could support myself.
Now, I make more than I made at Gorgias and despite the fact that we haven’t bought a biz yet, it’s still been an incredible year.
Shoot me a reply with what you’re grateful for this year.
